True story of transformation using power of
mentor and communities

Meet Vaishali.

Vaishali grew up in a village in the Maharashtra
hinterland. She got married at 18, pregnant at 19 and struggled, with an alcoholic husband for many years.

Vaishali worked odd jobs and never quite thoughts he would ever be able to start her own enterprise.

Today she runs ten business lines from hydroponic farming to vermiculture, from dairy to poultry –with strong revenue momentum.

She has won several awards and inspires other women in her community.

Motivated by her success, her husband has turned sober and works with her

Her moment of truth happened when she met her mentor and she became part of a rural women empowerment community.

She drew inspiration from others, and started setting up business lines by using resources and skills through the community.

  • They undergo a skilling & training program for health care delivery.

  • SwasthyaMitra visits the village community everyday to deliver healthcare services, including doctor consultation, medicinesand diagnostic tests for a small fee.

  • This fee helps them to create their livelihood and also recover some proportion of the teleconsultation cost.

  • Objective is to support them to generate an independent income source for themselves by charging a fee in addition to a monthly subsidy from DocOnline for sustenance.

  • DocOnline continues providing teleconsultation to them at a subsidized rate.

  • With increase in number of consultations over time and opportunity for upsell, the model becomes self-sustainable.
